Is Saudi-iranian rivalry reaching tipping point?
INTELLIGENCE BRIEFING: 05.04.2015
Summary: Saudi King Salman put in place a new generation of leaders – all of whom are security focused and who have experience dealing with the United States and the outside world. This takes place as the rivalry between Saudi Arabia and Iran continues to intensify in Yemen and Syria. The increasingly militarized rivalry between Saudi Arabia and Iran will not end anytime soon, but it is highly unlikely to morph into a direct and large-scale military confrontation. As a result, threats to crude oil production in the region will still come mainly from non-state actors. At the same time, Saudi policy towards maintaining and even increasing output should, remain in place.
