Pipeline Capacity Growth Outstrips Crude Production
In 2016 and 2017, Mainline expansions and new pipeline takeaway from the Bakken and PADD IV will result in in-creased capacity for North to South crude ﬂows in the midcontinent. However, this additional pipeline capacity will be under-utilized due to slow Canadian production growth, and declines in output from the Bakken and Niobrara. Only after 2017, when production rebounds will this pipeline infrastructure be more fully utilized.
