Intelligence Briefing: U.S., Jerusalem and Iran
Last week President Trump announced that the United States would recognize Jerusalem as the capital of Israel and that the U.S. would begin planning to move its embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem. It is unlikely that any U.S. initiative, either before or after this announcement, is going to jump-start the peace process in the near future. That leaves the impression that this is one more act to highlight the Trump Administration’s support for all things that are antithetical to Iran. This would also be consistent with recent rapprochement between Saudi Arabia and Israel, both allies united in demonizing Iran.
